Make Your Business Green – Consumers Want It

By GreenCompany | April 7, 2010

If you are a business owner and have been thinking about taking your business to the next level then get moving towards making your business green and environmentally friendly. According to a recent study by the TD Bank Financial Group, Canadian consumers want to shop from companies with green practices.

The TD Canada Trust Green Business Survey found that almost forty per cent of Canadian consumers who responded to the survey want to spend their money with a business that shows that they care about the environment. As well, a further twenty per cent of Canadian consumers would want to punish businesses financially if they are not working towards being green. Consumers can easily do this by simply not buying from such businesses or from their direct competitors who do have green businesses, products and services.

Furthermore the survey found that more than one quarter of Canadians would pay more for products and services from green businesses. It’s pretty clear that there is a growing movement amongst consumers towards environmentally friendly businesses. Small business owners can really move their businesses forward with some simple steps. By going green and announcing that fact, consumers will reward them for their efforts.

Some simple things businesses can do to improve their environmental impact include reducing their overall fuel and energy usage, saving and recycling paper products and move towards greening their supply chain. These moves can also help business owners improve their bottom line through the savings they will enjoy – not to mention the increase in business!

Senior Vice President of Small Business Banking for TD Canada Trust Alec Morley says of the survey results, “More and more we’re hearing from customers who are taking steps to green their businesses – they know that environmentally responsible practices are good for both the environment and their businesses.”

Companies looking to green their business operations can take advantage of the TD Canada Trust Small Business Going Green Webinar. Scheduled to be held Tuesday, April 13, 2010, at 12 pm EST, the webinar will be free and it is encouraged for all small business owners looking to take their business to the next level.

The webinar will help interested businesses learn more about ways they can use less energy, how to reuse and recycle various office supplies, how going green can improve relations with current and potential customers, and how being environmentally friendly can give them an advantage with their suppliers while helping your business stand out from their competition.

If you want to take advantage of this opportunity check out the webinar at www.tdcanadatrust.com/smallbusiness/webinars.jsp
