TD Canada Trust Green Event Lacking

This weekend saw the opening of a new TD Canada Trust full-service banking location open in Burnaby, British Columbia with a theme of being green. Attendees were invited to bring electronic goods to be recycled when they came by the new location.
All of that is fine and well, and certainly does help in some small measure but I still have a bone to pick with TD Canada Trust. For anyone who has been into one of their locations, surely you have noticed the vanity lights placed beside each teller wicket. These lights remain on all business hours and are completely useless. They cast no light that can be seen over top of the standard incandescent lighting. They are merely for show. And that is not very green of them at all.

First Production Electric Powered Vehicle Crosses Canada

As part of the Mitsubishi-Clean Across Canada Tour, the production Mitsubishi i-MiEV, an all electric powered car finished the cross-country tour when it arrived in Victoria this week. Back on August 17, 2010 it initially left St John’s Newfoundland. In all it traveled some 7,500 kms and showed to the Canadian consumer market that electric powered cars are here to stay. The Mitsubishi i-MiEV became the first production vehicle powered solely by electricity to be driven across this great nation.
Mitsubishi Motor Sales President and CEO said of the achievement, “During the journey from Cape Spear to Victoria the Mitsubishi Clean Across Canada Tour demonstrated to Canadians that the innovative i-MiEV zero emission car travels far and charges fast; it is the car of tomorrow…today.”

Survey Shows Canadians Consider Solar Power But Find Cost Prohibitive

A new survey has found that one in three Canadians have considered solar power for their homes but have found that current costs make it prohibitive to purchase and install. The survey of homeowners was conducted by the Toronto-based Research House on behalf of TD Bank Financial Group.
